power not getting to fuel pump

Post by cindiana »

This is an ongoing saga. I have had 2 fuel pumps installed which both quit working. After the frist one, it seemed that there was a problem with the ground. Now the pump is not getting power, any ideas. I am 1 1/2 hours from the Volvo Dealer. There were no throttle issues, no speed ups slow downs or anything, car ran fine, then just died.

We think it must be something about the power supply.

Does anyone have any ideas. My mechanic is very happy to have new ideas, because after having my car in his shop many times in the last few months, he wants it back with me as much as I want it back.

Well, it does sound like a power issue. I would start by checking the fuse, then the fuel pump relay and work your way back to the pump. To test the relay, take it out and out a piece of wire in its place to cross the leads. If the pump starts working, time for a new relay.
