V70 engine skip

Post by motor1947 »

2001 V70 t5 auto w/156k. Check engine light came on and had it checked at Chey dealer where I work and all that could tell me that is was an evac leak and shouldn't affect how the car would run but it would not pass emmissions test. About two weeks later developed a very noticeable skip when sitting at idle w/tranny in drive and then again when going down the road and accelerating hard the skip would be really bad. Back to shop and replaced two bad coils and all plugs. Much better now at idle but can still feel a light skip when accelerating at all speeds. Not a real bad skip but almost like a flutter. Don't want to spend much more on this car but i do like to drive it. Any ideas on problem(s)? Could the evac leak be an issue? By the way, I do work at a Chey store but on the sales side and not in service.

If the EVAP leak is big enough, it could be causing a vacuum leak that would cause this issue. I would clear all the codes and see what ones come back. Once you have the new group of codes, post them up here so we can help you get this issue under wraps.

Code came back as p0442 which shows to be a minor evap leak.
