See Model/Year below username.
I've got a 01 and 03 both in needs soon or slightly past with 2.3 and 2.5 engines respectively...guessing these are identical.
I did see a write up for mid 90s but things looked different enough that I am hoping for the right procedure. I just looked at the procedure that claymore listed and it also appears to be for mid 90s stuff based on their comments.
I've done some Vw 1.8T and 1.9 Tdi (big pain)...I'll assume I should get the cam locks to make life easy? How about crank locks...are they needed?

I have been trying to find the timing belt procedure I found and printed from the internet for my 02 XC70. It was a very good article with pictures. The pictures in all the articles I have found show a different picture of the crankshaft timing marks than what is on my 02. The crankshaft timing marks are actually like those on the 2000-2004 S/V 40. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find the link to send you. You might consider replacing the water pump while you are at it. The timing belt drives the pump and has to be remove anyway. More of a preventative maintenance item than a necessity.

Thanks. With all this amazing Volvo info out there I'm surprised I have not found a complete P2 write up with photos!

I found the link. http://www.volvoxc.com/resources/how-to ... ement2.pdf I didn't remove the crank pulley. There is a plastic cover behind the crank pulley that is held on by 2-10mm bolts. The bolts are on the side facing the radiator. Remove the bolts and you can work the belt around the pulley. Be careful not to kink the belt. I didn't lock the cams, but if you can it is recommended.
