A Couple of Problems with '95 850GLT

Post by 95-850-78,000mi »

Hello, I am new here and so far I am finding great things for my Volvo and great links to help me get them done right but I still cant find some things in the archives so I will just ask, I have a couple of questions so sorry if it gets long :)

I have a 1995 Volvo 850 GLT.... is this Model turbo??

My main area of problems comes from my Audio system. I still have the factory installed deck (only AM/FM and Tape). My main problem is that the sound goes in and out of the left side speakers randomly, I just tap the face plate and it kicks back in?? I also have two speakers in the rear by the back-windshield behind the head rest's and the have never worked since I have owned the car, just for looks or???

My other problem comes from the head-light washer blades, I have had one broken off by some hoodlum and when ever the car is in idle/park the motor for the blade is constantly running is there a way to turn it off??

Will S40 wheels fit on my 850??

And Finally, I just had a new engine installed due to bad oil problems in the last one(failure to replace oil and ended up melting a piston) I don

For the 95 model year, the turbos were the 850 Turbo and the 850 T5-R.

In 1997, the 850 GLT got a light pressure turbo, @197hp if memory serves. So no, you have no turbo.

Wiper: search the forum. I've seen posts about it.

Speakers: same thing, there's been some posts about finding that the magnets have simply come loose. But if it's a '95, you'll probably want some new speakers; they may not be salvagable.

About the Radio, I had a Volvo owner in NY emailed me few month back talking about buying my factory Radio (same one u have with AM/FM/Cassette) from my 850 that i was selling on ebay. His problem seems samiliar with yours (i think he has a 850 wagon). After he bought the radio, everything works great. So, that might be one of the possibilities. :|

I believe the fader switch controls the back speakers.
