I am a bit confused about the engine in my 1999 V70 Cross Country (XC)...
I have always referred to it as a 2.4 when asked for engine size in reference to parts, but checked w/dealer using VIN and he said it was a 2.5
I am pretty sure it's not the 2.3 because that was for the "R" series, right?
Sooo... is it a 2.4 or a 2.5
(btw it is the Turbo model)

It's a 2.4L Turbo (though the engine number shows up as having "2.5L displacement" - B5254T).
It's something like 2435 cc.

the moment of truth year model is 2000. Up through 1999 the white engine family had displacements rounded up in the Volvo engine nomenclature except they were first honest when they released the 2.9 S80 in 99. The 3 litre in 960 at launch and the 2.5 litre in 850 at launch were always really 2.9 and 2.4 respectively by any normal accepted rounding rules. The 2.5 litre LPT engine launched in 97 became a 2.4 LPT in 2000 but is the same bore/stroke. To make it more confusing the 2.4 LPT went away and was replaced by a 2.5 LPT that really is 2.5 litres. And to further confuse there is a 2.4 HPT that came out in 2006 in V70 and S60 T5's that is a 2.4 but it is a different bore stroke than the earlier 2.4 litre HPT in the one year only 2000 V70RAWD.
