Fairbanks Alaska Volvo Mechanic Needed, any recommendations?

Post by jlbob »

Howdy, I just moved from Oregon to Alaska with my 98 s70 GLT. She did absolutely great on the drive and now winter is nearing in a couple months so i am told. I am looking for a mechanic in the Fairbanks Area to service her and get her ready for winter. Also i am considering getting a remote start as well, any recommendations?

I know there is a dealership in Anchorage and will make the drive if i need to but i would love to find a local mechanic that does a good job. I know it is a small town but i am hoping a couple of the people i have seen here over the years can help direct me towards a reputable shop.

Thanks for your help,

James

PS i am new to the site but i have been reading this forum for years, so thank you very much for the repository of information, it has saved me thousands of dollars in labor.

So incase anyone was wondering i ended up talking to a few people in town, after having every shop that will touch a Volvo here in fairbanks tell me they WOULD not install a block heater in town i ended up going to Anchorage for the weekend and went to Independent Auto, right down the street from Continental Volvo. I have never been so happy with a Volvo shop in my life! They are a great family shop that will work with you and they saved me a few hundred dollars from what Continental quoted me. Don't get me wrong you have to go to the dealer sometimes and i am sure they would have done a great job but i like helping out the mom and pop shops when i can, especially when they have as much experience as these 2 fine gentlemen!
