00 V70 Suddenly No Blower

The fan will not work in any position either Auto or using the slider to adjust it. There were no symptoms preceding this failure.

The indicator lights on the climate control operates normally. If the AC is turned on the compressor starts and cycles. If you change the airflow from one location to another (dash to floorboard for example) you can hear the deflector changing positions under the dash.

I didn't see any fuses labeled for the blower. What fuse/circuit is that on?

Weather forecast calls for sunny and temps in the mid 90s the rest of the week

Any ideas or troubleshooting suggestions?

That is bananas! You probably won't get the reference to that terrible song. That's perfectly alright

Fuse 5 will be your climate control fan. But if that one blew, the ECC panel shouldn't be working either.

I think it might be time to pull the glovebox liner and passenger side kick plate. Unhook the wires from the blower motor and jump 12V (from a battery charger or something of the sort) directly to it and see if it will run.

If it runs, there's either a bad connection or the power stage went. If the blower still doesn't run, the motor just burned out. It's rare for an electrical motor to just burn out without showing signs of struggling or making weird noises first, but it does occasionally happen.

C@lvin, if the fuse 5 controls the CC and OBD system, that means the OBD plug won't connect to any reader, correct?

I am having this same problem, just started suddenly (bananas?) today. Not happy. it's all four H's here: Hazy Hot Humid and Holycrapitsfreakinhotout!

Yes, if the fuse 5 blow out, the OBD port won't work as well. I had that happening to me and it was caused by the blower failing.

hmmm my number 5 fuse is A-OK. I think I am going to try swapping out the ECC and/or the blower with my 98 S70 to narrow down the cause. I may not get a chance until this weekend

OK, so I am finally able to spend 10 minutes on this and swapped the ECC unit with my S70 and the ECC checked out fine.

So far......Fuse 5 OK, ECC unit OK.

I guess next to check is the blower itself

What about the cabin temp sensor, if it failed completely would it prevent the blower from running? I just wondered cause that would be real easy to check out (and potentially fix) compared to the blower

The cabin temp sensor will be used only if you put fan control to auto. Just play with the fan speed manually to test it.

It's the blower itself obviously.

I finally got to do some troubleshooting. I swapped the ECC, the power stage, and the blower. Both sets work fine in my 98 S70 and will not work in the 00 V70.

Any ideas what to try next? Are there any in-line fuses anywhwere? I previously checked fuse #5 and it was OK. what else could be stopping the blower?

What is that small green connector into the side of the duct next to the power stage?

Need some help folks
