Very bad spot.

You'd know CT cops better than I, but my limited experience suggests sharper burrs, deeper up their asses, than even MA staties, and that's really saying something. MA cops would surely pull that car over for the plate being partially obscured.

Also, they're screwing up your front end aerodynamics, presenting a higher risk of falling off (or being crushed by a touch-parker), and they just look damned ugly there.

Really, step back a little, and imagine that's a handlebar mustache, or even worse - nostril hairs, or maybe boogers from hell.

If your goal is to create a Volvo that gets noticed for sheer shitboxiness, that's an excellent start.

* EDIT: This should not be taken to disparage delierately created shitboxes. It's considered an art form unto itself in some parts of Boston. If you're going this route, I suggest also having severe fake rust hand-painted around each wheel well and the rocker panels. Nothing says "stay out of my way" quite like advanced body rot. Having someone back their trailer hitch through your grille doesn't hurt, either.

If you are having overheating issues you need to find out why. I live in southern Florida so I know what hot is. A better idea would be to install manual override switch for cooling fan. I did in mine, no one sees it and it was very simple project. I am sorry but your idea would be an embarrassment to other Volvo owners  .

Is the t-stat gauge on your dash showing hot, or the engine just "feels" hot to you?

It's normal for these cars to feel like the run hot, but as long as that gauge is at the 3:00 position, you're fine.
