Price question: 84' 240 w/ 155k

Post by scorpiodad78 »

Hi guys!

I'm new to the volvo way of life, I got a 1993 940 turbo sedan I've been tinkering with for a few months and finally have it road ready and I LOVE it. I had also built a privacy fence for an elderly couple with the understanding Id be paid upon completion (quoted $1400 for material and labor). When I finished the fence the husband was almost in tears explaining how he was ashamed but ran into problems and couldn't pay me. He offered me his 1984 240( 4 spd, ac not working, some other minor mechanical issues) but in awesome shape for 84' w/ 155k on it. I took it for my wife as a work car, but I was just curious what would be a ball park figure of it's worth? I don't think I'm gonna sell it, it's a nice little car. I'm just wondering how I did for what I was supposed to get initailly( ie $144), assuming ofcoarse there isn't big issues w/ the car unforseen yet. Thanks in advance guys!

I looked on line. if the air was to work and blow cold air it could be worth around $1200-$1400. The average resale thought is about $600-$800. What really matters though, is are you happy with the trade, with that said, nothing else matters. You sound like the type of person I would like to have for a neighbor.........happy drives!

I think it was a fair trade. Used car prices are at a peak right now, so a good-running, good-looking 240 can command $1400.

That's my not-too-knowledgeable-about-RWD-Volvos $.02.
