Im new to the volvo world (I'm a blue blooded Ford nut normaily
I found a 94 850 Turbo for a striking price. After looking at it, the interior is well worn so to speak, nothing out of the ordonary, but this car was clearly well driven.
With 141k on the clock and the last service record of a 70k checkup in the maintenance booklet, its a given it needs a timeing belt done, but other than that all looked and sounded well under the hood. When first started, the vac/boost guage was working fine, but mid way though the test drive, it completely stopped working (in the center). My question is, is that guage a Vacuum guage, or electronic? I just need to know how hard it would be to get it working. (if its vaccumm it needs to be fixed or capped)
The other problem with it was the power window switches which ive heard are famous for dieing. The pass window refused to go up and i would imagine thats just the switch, but just wanted to pass it by this board to see if you have any other ideas.
On the annoying issues are the headliner on the privacy shade is loose at the back preventing the shade from going back. How hard is it to take this part out and glue it back down? And finnaly, the CD Changer the cartrage does not want to eject, is this common? any way to fix it easily?
On the plus side, it ran great, stopped good, no idiot lights were on, was fully loaded, and looked great from the outside. The climate control was also blowing cold air (which was easy to notice as it was 92 today
Other than these small issues, i was very impressed with the car, and can get it as is for $3500 which i think is good. Im a car guy and love working on cars and I'm no stranger to Turbo's (you can see my car here )
Thank you again,
Kevin
