1987 760 Turbo White Smoke

Post by bbbycrr »

Car starts and runs fine. No real loss of coolant. Excessive amount of white smoke out of exhaust. A small amount of smoke coming out from engine. Can't quite see where. It's somewhere near the turbo. Exhaust smoke doesn't smell sweet like coolant. It may not even be white smoke really. Maybe slightly gray color. Dipstick shows signs of water contamination. It could be head gasket. I have not done a compression test yet. How should I proceed beyond the compression test?

Compression checks ok @ 150psi ea cyl. I can't find anything on vacuum sys. Thinking oil being pulled into intake. Can someone explain this system? Here is a pic of my vacuum pump?

Well, I found oil in the innercooler telling me that the problem is the turbo. Am I wrong?

My first thought just after reading the title was your turbo. Is the intercooler filmed with blow-by? Do you have a boost gauge, if not is acceleration poor?
