centre console globes

Hi all. Im in oztralia and i am trying to source some globes

for my shifter, lighter socket, ash tray etc. I cant find a listing anywhere for these globes or where i can get them from. Anyone got any pointers???

The socket for the lamps you are talking about have a unique socket design and are pretty much a dealer only item. The parts counter is aware that they are unique and they want upwards of $20 USD each for them.

What I have done is cut the old lamp out of the socket and solder in a replacement 12 Volt - 60 ma bulb back into the socket. That method has worked great for several years.

While Tasmania has terrific race car drivers (Marcos Ambrose) I doubt that you have any Radio Shack stores. That said, this is what you need if you can find a local electronics supply house:

They should stock a functional equivalent.

we have dick smith electronics and jaycar. Nascar isnt real racing anyway, they just go in circles like speedway. Give me tarmac or dirt rally anytime !! Thanks, i will give it a go. I have a part number for the OME item, its 136149 for those who want it.(My 'local' dealer just got back to me and there out of stok for past 2yrs and are bout 2.5 hrs from me.!!)

Wow...and I thought my dealer was bending me over without the vaseline by charging me $5-$7 each for them!

I agree with cutting out the old lamps - but if you can use a soldering iron, consider using LED's. You can then change colours as well if you want, but remember they operate on a different voltage. You will need to rewire mant in series, or add a resistor to each if yoy just want to stick with the original wiring.

I have a "using LED's" tutorial if anyone is interested.

Cheers mate. I'll give the LED route a go. I was told that the globes at my dealer are $16au each. You can buy them on e-by for $7us, here is the link if u want it (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Volvo-automa ... 588f725d07)
