Climate control switch w/o ACC...

99S70...Does anyone know why I would not be able to adjust the diverter(center knob) on the climate control panel. It stays in the defrost position(blows on the windshield)most of the time. When it does switch to another setting, it does so on its own. Might there be a sticking blend door or a broken vacuum line that may be the cause...

faulty damper motor. On that system the air distribution is electric and a single motor on left side of case does the job. Sounds like it lost its potentiometer and doesn't know where the motor is in its travel.
