Need front brakes...

Post by AlanS »

I need front brakes for my 95-850NA. FCP Groton has, like 4 different ones... I just want the car to stop, without squealing...what do you all recommend?
I also need wiper arms...they have Scan Tech. Does it matter? Should I buy Volvo?

I've heard bad things about scantech. For the wiper arms, I would find a pair from an S/V70 that you can take. Those don't get bent out of shape.

You mean...find a junk yard for the arms? Wouldn't those be just as 'worn out'? My splines are shot...the spring is shot.

Alan,
Search the IPD ad above...this will help more on your selection (correct part numbers). That said, only if your brakes are still factory (rotors). The reason I say this is for an example; Big Brakes (big rotors) will not allow the Volvo pads to fit.
Here are some more: the three ads above this forum plus, partsgeek.com, buybrakes.com, brakewarehouse.com
Rotors any good? Inspect them too.

Here are the responses I got when I asked the same question:

Do your current brakes shake the steering wheel AT ALL when you apply them? If so, you need new rotors as well - that shaking will only get worse.

FWIW, still very happy with my Akebono/Zimmerman combination. 27,000 miles on em ;)
