CD cartridge stuck in radio

Hi guys, once more, after searching the internet and this forum for the answer I could not find.
Our radio on the s70 has the 3 cd cartridge, well my kid today (whos only 1 1/2 but already in his terrivle twos) did something to whack the cartridge, now its stuck halfway, does not slide in, nor out.
Is there a latch or something to release it?
I dont want to use force..but a gentle push and pull does not moves it a fraction

I'm not sure about yours, but on my 850 with the changer in the trunk, if you slide a very thin metel blade, like a thin putty scraper along the top of the cartridge, there is a release and the cartridge pops out. I think most of these volvo raidos were made by Alpine, so maybe there are some common elements. Good luck.

I'm assuming the drawer is out and the cartridge is fully in the drawer? If so look underneath there's a one inch metal linkage slightly left of center, I believe if you slide the back side of it to the left it will release the cartridge. Once the cartridge is out then try sliding it back in and see what the radio does with it.

Thanks, I opened the radio and was able to slide the cartridge back and forth, all I need is to get the cds out, dont care much if the cd player works or not. With Ipods, pandora and Sirius theres no much need for them anymore..

Victory!
installed the radio back and slid the magazine, it gave me a prompt cd3 something 2, I ejected the magazine and re-inserted, no more prompt on radio screen, and the whole mechanism is working fine..

Radio is an SC 900 on my 99 S-70

Here's what I did:
You need to remove the radio, there's two tabs that you press inward, and they will pop out, they are located at each side of the radio unit, just pull on those and the radio will slide out, it will be easier if you put the car in neutral and for non scratching purposes use a rag to place atop the shift knob.

Once the radio is pulled out you will see in the back two small phillips screws (circled in red on this photo) just remove then, lift the lid from aft to forward and remove, there are some clips in the front fascia of the radio which are part of the top lid, be careful with those.

This is what the unit looked like and why I had to remove the cartridge/magazine, my kid managed to press the magazine back in while it was ejecting, I found a stuck CD which jammed into an already filled slot, so I had 1 and a half cds in one space

As you can see in this photo, you will need to find the tabs that are marked with the oval, they are locks for the sliding mechanism that the magazine slides on, I was able to push the CD completely into the already occupied slot with a pair of curved medical tweezers, as soon as I managed to do so, I took the tab that is circled to your left and lifted it with a long screwdriver, while at the same time, pressed on the oval mark to your right with a flat screwdriver, once these two are unlocked, the cartridge runs in and out

I had read in here that theres a clip underneath towards the driver side that if pressed towards the passenger side the cartridge will release, I had no such luck, the cartridge was stuck, so I removed the outer plastic (the one that says " do not touch magazine") theres only one very tiny phillips screw on each side, once I did remove it (I did not know if it was needed or not) I was able to see that the spring loaded "clip" has two plastic points that are attached to the side metal plates (in order for it to swivel) I pressed those outward

And removed the door that reads 3 cd (watch out for the spring, although theres not much tension, its tiny)

The next step (and after quite a long time of figuring out) I used the same curved medical tweezers to lift the bottom of the magazine up, and pulled with my hand at the same time, it so happens, theres three "knobs" holding the magazine down, once I lifted and pulled, the magazine came right out

I reversed the whole order and assembled back the radio, hoping that it would work.. and it did

I must add this, the reason I used the curved "tweezers" is so I could reach the underside of the cartridge. I introduced the "tweezers" into the center hole in the photo ( its the cd reading eye so ve careful) the curve helps as lever.
I just lifted the cartridge a bit and pulled with the "free" hand.
