How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Hi-Flow Turbo Intake Tube and CCI System

Post by Juan62 »

98 S70 T-5M;

I was wondering if any has done this before or if this mod will work.

FCP Euro; Part # PFA-98X70, by (Snabb): Volvo High Flow Air Intake kit (replaces the factory Turbo tube).
Viva Performance; Part #VP-CB053, by (Simota): Carbon Fiber Intake System (replaces the factory air box/filter)...will need a SAS filter.

1. Will the two systems work together?
2. Will I need to get a Flex Tube to modify the factory air distribution tube (from radiator shroad to air box)?
Thanks

Update;
Go to http://www.snabb.us

These products are custom hand-made for Volvo's. If your Volvo is not listed on their website, call and ask for a custom pipe.

Update: Will they work together,
Yes!!!

After purchasing and installation, I'll post a write-up and pics, but instructions do come with both (Simota and Snabb) kits. if you require a SAS filter, IPD (19.00) or Pep Boys, Autozone, and Advance Auto parts sells them too (multiple colors).

Here is the CCI (Carbon Cold Air Intake) which replaces your factory air box/filter. For SAS filters, $10

I cannot to wait for your report. Especially I am interested in how well Simota CAI will work. Do you know if Simota CAI is better than ipd version? How different are they? In theory, it shares the same idea, correct?

Firebrick;
Yes, in theory, the concept is to keep hot air from the engine bay out...cold air=better response.
Now, the IPD's Short Air Ram is great, but it will capture some hot air from the engine bay. Why, because the air filter system is not fully sealed (like the factory air box). The Simota CCI system enclosed its air filter with a Carbon Fiber housing, thus, simular to the factory air box, but without the air box.
Both are capable and has its own unique benefits. Example; if Simota created a sheild like IPD, it would have both of the two worlds. If IPD created an enclosure (sealed) for its air filter....wow!
So I'm still researching if a company combines the two. So far, nada. And therefore, I will eventually incorporate both Simota, and IPD's version. Why, because IPD has the sheild and the HD TCV, and Coil pack locations are a great benefit=plug and play. Simota has the filter enclosure (sealed), together, I would reduce more engine bay heat from the system. The Volvo High Air Intake, is a great look and add-on with brass fittings. You are able to upgrade the hoses to braided Hi-performance connectors...looks professional (NHRA) stuff.

Trophytaker308;
The CCI (Black), yes thats much better.
This week i received the IPD's SR5T w/SAS. Now, I will order the Hi-Performance (Turbo) Fresh Air Intake form Snabb. And finally, the CCI systems. Why the SR5T and CCI? Because of the heat sheild, new input location for the coil, and HD TCV. I guess I could have cut the factory air box and fabricated something, but I chose the metal heat sheild...which to me,will compliment the entire system.
