OBD II Code P1633 and P1618

Hi. I have a 1999 V70 R (2.3L turbo AWD) it has 175,000 miles. We just rebuilt the head and replaced the turbo about 5-8,000 miles ago. We did new front struts and replaced all motor mounts (5). I don't think that has to do with our codes but thought I'd give you a background on it and let you know that I love my car. (I'm not sure my husband does right now...)
Our issues are that we pulled a P1633 (ECM-510F) Vehicle Speed Signal code and a P1618 (ECM-530D) TCM Node code. I have done some research and it looks like there is a flash upgrade for the TCM that we haven't done. Not sure if that will help or if that code is just a trickle down of the P1633 code. The speed signal code research I've done so far suggests replacing the ABS control module instead of the wheel speed sensors...Do you find these are commonly faulty? I see that FCP Groton and IPD offer rebuilt ones reddily available...which make me think they may commonly go out. We have a scanner but it isn't capable of communicating, actuating or testing the sensors or module, etc.
We cleared the codes and then drove it again. The symptoms while driving were that the ABS and Brake lights on the dash would come on and then go off randomly. After a while, the check engine light would come on too but then go off intermittently. We would lose the speedometer and the mileage readout. The car would surges slightly when the lights come on and go off. We also have had trouble with cruise control cancelling itself. We have considered it might be the output speed sensor on the trans...I love my car and miss driving it...I thank you in advance for any help.

It sounds like the ABS module. I had exactly the same problems with my '99 V70XC. Rebuilt module from IPD solved it and it runs great.

Different Matt. But, it's okay...people always email me telling me what a great help the site has been, people get us mixed up.

Sometimes the 1633 and 1618 go hand in hand, mainly because the transmission gets it's signal from the ABS module. IF your ABS lights are on, it's likely the module if it's original.

Matty Moo can repair or send out an ABS module for a fraction of the cost of anyplace else.

I've just read these two codes on my 2000 V70.

I also read P0722, which is Output Speed Sensor Circuit, which reads "no signal".

The symptoms were; check engine light on, speedometer quit working, upshift light blinking in Drive, and slow takeoff in Drive.

Earlier, I had the brake light come on too, but the brakes are almost new and in great working order. Could this also be the ABS module? Or is it, more likely, the Output Speed Sensor?

So much more complicated than my first car, a 1949 Ford with a flathead V8 engine with overdrive. I could change the spark plugs with a crescent wrench. That, with a screwdriver and a pair of pliers was all I needed for most repairs.

The brake light is on because the module was allowed to degrade to the point of going into limp mode.

What module is that? ABS or something different?
