Well I bought a 2000 s80 earlier this week and every time I remove my key the heater turns to ac and continues blowing. Also a few things like the heated seats don't work.
Anybody have any direction?
Also I don't know if its relevant but the Srs service urgent message is showing as well.
Any input is appreciated.

Get a BSR diagnostic reader/reset 'tool'. With that year of the S80, you are going to need it. I have a 99 S80 T6 and couldn't continue to owne/drive the car if I didn't have that handy little 'tool'.
It allows you to read all the DTCs and reset them all, including the SRS Service...
See below:
You can buy the BSR Diagnostic directly from Sweden see:

That would allow me to clear the Srs light but would that fix the climate control issue too?

Not sure. It would mainly allow you to read DTCs which might point you in the right direction....
Are far as the heated seats not working, have you checked fuses. There is one fuse panel to the left of the console. It is accessible when you open the driver's door and remove the cover. Also you could look at the wiring diagrams which are down loadable from the drop down menu entitled 'Repair Database' at the top of this page.
Not sure about the AC running after you remove the key, it might be that is supposed to do that in order to clear moisture out of the air conditioning system. Does it shut off after a few minutes or ????
You might also try to get old of/purchase a copy of VADIS. It is the equivalent of a factory service manual which covers many years and Volvo models. It is on a CD and you can usually find it on Ebay for a few dollars. It of course runs on your computer.

Your AC running after shut down is normal, especially on hot days. I think it is to clear moisture from the AC system as dcarlson12 suggests. My '01 S80 does it, too. The fan also comes on almost an hour later for a short time and then shuts off. Again, on hot days only. I remember reading about this in the Owner's Manual...take a look.

Thanks beach bum. Yeah it has been between 50 and low 30s and it has been doing it even in the super cold. I would look at an owners manual if I had one...the car didn't have one when I bought it

And dcarlson I will look at the fuses and see if they are burnt. The thing is they aren't the only buttons that don't work. The back seat fold button, trunk lock and even the traction control won't react to being pushed. Just very strange

Try locking/unlocking the driver's door with the key 3 times in a row. This resets the computer system and often turns things back on. This trick was shown to me once by a Volvo service manager when my sunroof stopped working. I have used it with success many times to turn stuff back on.
If that doesn't work, try disconnecting the negative battery terminal. This will wipe out all the codes stored in the computer. Wait at least 10 minutes before reconnecting (needs time to erase everything). Vadis says the proper way to reconnect the battery is to turn the key to position 2 (marked "II" on the steering column) BEFORE you reconnect the negative terminal. Then try the lock/unlock thing.
Not sure if this will fix your problem but it's worth a shot. Good luck.

The after-blow feature could be the cause but to me if the fan runs continously at maximum speed, the control module powering the fan motor is defective.the2edwards wrote:Well I bought a 2000 s80 earlier this week and every time I remove my key the heater turns to ac and continues blowing. Look at the following tread on how to solve it.

The suggestion to have your own scanner is a good advice with these cars.

Ok update. I tried the door lock situation...still blows.
I disconnected the battery for 8 hours (a little overkill). No change.
While disconnected I went through every single fuse that could be remotely relevant. Nothing burnt.
I do have full control of all speeds of the blower motor, so i would assume the blower resistor would be good.
I am considering buying the computer, but with a cross country move and a 3week old baby girl I'm a little tight on $$$.
I also did take out the ccm and disassembled it. Other than a few burnt bulbs the only thing I noticed suspect was a burnt filament that I am pretty sure is the cabin air thermostat. It was burnt acrossand had no true connection. Between the leads.
