P80 FWD front wheel bearing seals 9492980 30647015

Post by DML »

I replaced the front wheel hub assembly the other night and noticed that a seal on the back side is missing. Thats probably why the bearing failed. It was a FAG bearing. I used FAG also and don't to replace it any time soon. Does anybody know what the part number is for the wheel hub seal? I have searched and can't find any info.

Thanks

Fag bearings are OEM bearings and they are just "install & go".

That said....remove the old one and put in the new one. There are no aditional seals for it.Everything you need is in the box.

I looked up the diagram on VIDA and I see the sealing ring.

For V70's they list 9492980 for chassis number up to 665091 and
30647015 for chassis number 665092 and on.

Funny thing is that I have never seen that seal consistently used. I have taken apart a number of cars that likely never had been apart before and have not found that seal.
WHen I have found them in place the fit seems to have nothing to do with sealing the bearing.

So I'm good then on the seal. I didn't want to have to go back in ther to replace it.
Thanks for the info.

That is brilliant, so it is what they call a dust shield, to keep out water and dirt. How much was it. I elected to try a GmB bearing.
Btw put some anti seize on those splines, they can size with corrosion
