radiator replacing in s80

Post by chucks802000 »

I am I thinking I might have to replace my radiator on my s80 2000 volvo, it leaking in the inlet area where the top hose goes into the radiator. I have heard these inlets crack over time.

I have study it somewhat through this forum , youtube and down loaded some of the manual directions. I would like to cut to the chase some, without not getting bogged down in terminology and details to start. So I have some general question right now about replacing the radiator and I would appreciate anyone wisdom in this area .

First there is a metal shroud that runs the length of the car that pretty much covers the radiator top area, it has about 12 screws in it, I took those out and other clips to explore, it appears to lip under the front grill parts of the car and I was unable to figure out how to un-lip it there.

I assume the air condition condenser is on the front side of radiator and is lifted out at the same time as the radiator. How many air condition hoses have to be disconnected and do I have to any else in this area besides disconnect and reconnect these hoses (like discharge refrigerant)

Does the fan/fans come off before lifting radiator/ condenser out, how many screws/bolts to disconnect it from radiator, and how many electrical connectors have to be disconnected here and else where to get the radiator out.

(I know two hoses to the transmission has to be disconnected too)

How many bolts actually hold the radiator and condenser in place and their location, and is there any other things I have to disconnect to get the radiator/ condenser out on a s80 2000.

In sum: the system has to be drained, the air condition has to be disconnected , the wiring disconnected from fans and possible other areas, fans taken off, two water hoses disconnected, two transmission hoses disconnected, and bolts taken loose, and the radiator and condenser lift out???, can it be lifted out or does the s80 radiator have to dropped from bottom?

Thanks
Chuck
