2002 V70 sudden stall

Have a question for you folks that couldn't be answered by the dealer after dropping $120...
Wife's V70, 5 speed manual, 140K miles, is sporadically stalling out. It has stalled on me twice as well. In all
situations, car has stalled while dropping RPM's in either a full-on stop or going into a turn and downshifting
from third to second. Clutch has been engaged in all scenarios. Dash lights stay on after stall.

Had dealer check the original throttle body and tests were within spec and readings were very good. I'm not familiar with
the test, but tech is a good friend of mine and has done this many times before, as we all know these TB's are problematic. Codes show a potential CAT problem, but nothing related to TB, and no CEL's.

Other than stall, engine idles well and overall, car runs very well.

Any thoughts? I have one month before 10 yr warranty expires.

A clogged cat could cause the car to stall, decreased mpg and general poor performance among other things. If the tb test good and you have codes leading you to believe the cat is an issue have the dealer check it. I have never experienced a bad cat on a Volvo, but I would think that either through a vacuum test or a pressure test the dealer could determine whether the cat is blocked up or not.

Thanks Otis44. The weird thing is that the car performs well with pretty good mpg. Last weekend I drove from Maine to Pennsylvania 11 hours one way, turned around 7 hours later and drove back and got good mpgs and performance. Dealers remedy for the cat code was to dump two bottles of Techron in the gas tank. My past experiences with cat issues seem to be connected with O2 sensors, but no code for that right now. I'll ask about the pressure and vacuum tests.

It sounds like it`s loosing either ignition or fuel, which exactly it`ll take some investigatig. I`m thinking fuel pump relay, power to ignition circuit, and such. I`d start by looking at fuel pump connector, relay contacts, etc.
