Keyless Entry Key Fob replacement

Post by BlackThunder »

Does anyone know of a key fob remote that would replace the stock Volvo keyless entry fob for 97 850?

I'm wondering if a cheaper Ford version would work or if there are any "universal" key fobs that I don't know about and/or can't find on the internet that someone else may know about.

My fob works but the key chain part broke off. Anyway, my key fob, when I was using it, was going through batteries at a rapid rate so I need to replace it regardless.

Any thoughts? Is it worth purchasing a $12.00 Ford transmitter and programming it using the normal Volvo Key Fob programming method listed in the manual?

I purchased one on ebay for 19.00. They're pretty simple to program.

I need to buy a replacement key fob for a 2000 Volvo S40. I know the fob needs to be programed, does this have to be done @ the dealer?

Yeah, the only Key Fobs I see on eBay broke where mine broke. I'll keep looking. Thanks!

Tried to find one on ebay and everyone wanted 60+. Can someone find me one on ebay for a 1997 850 wagon for around that $19 price?

On Ebay, search "Volvo 850 Keyless". They are going for as low as 13.00, but the guys I purchased mine from were called keyless4u. $19.76. They also provide programming instructions. I notice they may have changed in '97, but I still see quite a few for well under $60. Good luck.
