Volvo AUX adapter

Getting fed up with the limited audio capabilities in my 2001 V70 I decided to try the Volvo AUX adapter (http://www.auxadapter.se) by Johnny Persson. After paying around $125 NZD incl shipping it wasn't too long before I received it. Being somewhat of an electronics buff myself I was pleased with the simplicity and the quality of the device. Fitting is a matter of finding some free space behind the console and stick it into place with Velco strip (not supplied). As some former owner has screwed up the console fittings the suggested 3.5mm pen holder jack wasn't an option. I decided to run the signal wire inside the console housing, alongside the handbreak (RHD) and popping up between the 2 storage spaces. There's no need to remove any of the plastic cladding, the wire can be fitted into the gaps after pulling them apart a little (check photo's). It's great to have some decent music finally; getting it is as simple as connecting your music player to the 3.5mm jack, selecting the CD changer and pressing play.

As I said I am quite impressed and pleased with the unit. Travelling with the kids while playing their favorites (fader to the back of course) makes it so much more pleasant :-)

The one area of improvement could be the volume difference between the radio/CD and the AUX adapter. The AUX adapter
is quite soft compared to the native sources so when switching volume adjustment is required.
