Check Engine code P0442

Post by travismail1 »

Have a check engine code P0442 that has come on. Evap small leak detected. I have replaced gas cap and reset computer but has come back on. From some internet reading I have observed folks with either the J hose at rear canister or the hoses on evap valve on front fan shroud to blame. Has anyone here had this issue and what was your resolution? I don't want to start replacing everything in the system if there is a common issue seen by many.

I have the same issue and had a smoke test to locate the leak. The repair shop said it is my J hose located on top of or near my gas tank. Quoted me $900.00 to drop the rear end. I have been looking on line and it would appear I can access the J hose my lowering my exhaust and removing heat shield. I have been searching other post to see if anyone has a video or diagram of this actually being done. So far everything I have found is garbage. I need to make the repair quickly because I have to take it in for an Emissions Test. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
