Replace ABS Unit

Post by JBC »

I just replace an ABS unit through Midwest-abs.com. After installation, the car will not start. When I turn the key the starter just turns. Any ideas?

Sounds like you didn't plug the MAF back in.

Okay, "helmet fire". I pulled the distributor cable off when replacing the ABS unit. Fixed. ABS and Trac lights out. Good to go. Now I have a radiator light on. Lets see, 1998 to 2012 - 14 year old car is starting to have issues but nothing that can't be fixed. Hey, it fun listening to some good tunes and working in the garage. JBC

I am not sure about the Fenix systems, but for the Mototronic engine controls the car starts fine without the MAF, just sets a CEL and a MAF code...and you lose power cause it ignores idle air and O2 control.

Glad I read this...I am getting ready to do the ABS controller on mine, and now I know what NOT to do ;)

Better off than the guy that called me three weeks ago when his car wouldn't start after putting his new abs module in, he neglected to tell me that the timing belt chewed through the cover the day he parked it.
