Last month, my radiator was leaking internally into the gear box. Kept losing coolant and kept refilling it (stupidly) thinking it was vaporizing somewhere. Ended up losing the gear box. Radiator sorted too of course.
Then just last week when my wife was driving, a hose leading to the turbo burst. She (being unexperienced, naturally for most women) kept driving until the car overheated. Lost the head. Still checking the block.
I know there's some obvious maintenance and replacements due for an 8 year old car. Due to the mishap, most parts I can think of to go wrong will now have to be replaced. It boiled down to radiator, all coolant-carrying hose, gaskets, timing belt, and now checking the block and piston rings too (might as well). The car has been great all along and no intention of letting it go.
What I want to know is, are there any other parts I should replace to keep the car going for another 5 years? I don't want it to be another "burst hose that cost an engine" you know. Heard the oil cooler might be due too. Any advice..?
