My new (used) 99 V70XC

Post by Mad Dog Tannen »

I just picked her up yesterday. It has 99k miles and all the service records. Charcoal interior, auto. I bought it to go to Tahoe when I get back to NorCal next year. I plan on a bigger turbo, maybe some intake/exaust, roof rack and stereo...

So after shopping around for some better exhaust to prep for a turbo upgrade, I decided that the prices were outrageous and I should just build my own. So today I ordered everything i will need to build my own 3" system from downpipe to tip, and it cost less than the cheapest cat back I could find.
I ordered a dynomax hi flow cat, Borla Pro XS muffler, and enough 3" piping to make a true dual exhaust. It should all be here in about 2 weeks. I also get to try out my new welder!

Very nice!! I have been wanting to do something similar to my 01' cross country. Sadly struts and the etm must come first. Where did you find the piping and catback? Also where did you find tubing that will fit the flange of the turbo exhaust?

I actually just finished it today. I used the old flange and I ground out the inside to match the piping.
I got all of the pieces from Jegs. I'll post pictures soon.

I I finally finished my exhaust. It took me about a day and a half. It has a very deep tone and I can notice a little more response at low RPM's and little more punch over all. It all looks and sounds great. My only complaint is that it does drone a bit on the freeway and it's melting my bumper a bit. Overall I am very pleased with the result.

And the pics...
