Some night when the weather is damp open the hood and then start the car. You might be able to see any sparks from the coil or plug wires or other locations.

I had the same stalling problem with my 1994 Volvo 850 (not a Turbo). It was very dangerous because a couple of times the car started fine, then stalled at a traffic light where I was in the way of several lanes of traffic. Once it stalled, I had to wait about 30 minutes to an hour and then the car would start again, only to stall again if the weather was damp.

Luckily I found a mechanic who was able to diagnose the problem as being, as you said, in the coils which were (he said) shorting out and mostly burnt out. He replaced the coils and distributor cap and the problem now seems to be fixed. The repair was expensive but worth it because I can now drive the car and take it out in the rain without worrying that it will stall.
