Slow boost production but boost isn't low
Slow boost production but boost isn't low
Hello all, ive got a 1996 850 turbo, mods include IPD short ram intake with k&n, samco intercooler hoses (silicone), IPD turboback exhaust, ARD green tune (17 psi) and although boost gets up to 17 psi and stays there, it takes almost 2 seconds to build, what can i do to improve this, i set my wastegate actuator with 4 psi and adusted the rod as instructed this seemed to slow it down a little instead of improving it. i also have an IPD HD compressor bypass valve that i have yet to install. any suggestions are appreciated.

Did you get in touch with Lucky? It's the chip that controls how quickly the boost rises. If what you're experiencing is the max rate, it's to save the rods from bending. A user here blew up his engine because boost came on too early -- too much wastegate tightening.

Hissing is probably a leak in the miles of vacuum line and the dozen or so elbows and other line connections we have in our turbo Volvos.

alright is there a diagram with the vaccum lines? i know its not the intercooler hoses, hose coming off the wastegate actuator, or the IAC output hose, all of those have recently been replaced and or inspected.

sorry for the super late response, no codes, ive replaced a hose coming off of the CBV to the intake manifold as it was dried and cracked, as well as the hose coming off of the wastegate actuator, i am totally confused, i adjusted the wastegate with a suggested 4 psi and needed to loosten the wastegate arm by two turns, seems slower than before. no fluttering from the cbv so im not sure if replacing with the IPD HD CBV that i have on hand will do any good, what should i try next, like before its making the 17 psi, but slowly, so the power just isnt there to match the boost.
quick update MASSIVE boost loss, im basically boosting stock now, no idea what happened was running fine last night, and then bam this morning the turbo gauge is only going slightly over the halfway point on WOT while before it would go to the end, upon initial investigation no visible boost leaks on the intercooler system as far as i can tell, or the IAC output hose which has been a problem in the past, i am hearing a loud hiss upon acceleration.
