Halo lights

Post by Fish stick88 »

Just wondering what everyone thinks on installing halo lights on an 850, they would be black to match my car. and i think they would look awesome, and may take a couple years away from my car.

Here is a link in the car, I likely wouldnt have this so called "breathing led"

Pros/cons. and opinions welcomed.
Thanks

I think this may give another look at it

Hope you don't mind bluntness! Personally I think the S70 Big Glass look is the best as is also with the 850's. Those little round eyes reminds me of some kind of reptile or fish with bugger lips waiting to stick out a little tongue. It also looks like the rear brake light assembly. The BMW's have the Best Round Style lighting and seems like someone is aggressively staring you down. The worse of it and PLEASE I don't mean to offend anyone but the derogatory slang (Ricer) comes to mind.

Nice illumination at 0:13 & 3:21 on the video (Don't care much for the Audi Style LED's)

Blessings,

I'm rocking the black halo/angel eyes on my red 850R sedan. I'm less impressed with the halos. Even though the projectors have the european halogen cut off the _/ _/, rather than the _- _-, with a 35watt HID kit, they are an improvement over the stock headlights. Pick up a set of stealth or chrome bulbs for the turn signals as it's a heck of a lot easier to swap the bulbs before you put them in. I did not and the "egg yoke" look is ugly. There is a guy in my area that has a nautic blue 850 with chrome angel eyes and they look decent.

Installation was straight forward, out of the box the wiring is not set up for the halo rings and a small LED between the high and low beams. I tied that into the parking light on the headlamp assembly wiring. I think they fit pretty decent and if you take your time with the three bolts that attach the assembly to the header/core support you can create an even gap. Installation was not too bad.

I'll attach some pictures, they are not the best, by phone is nearing the end of its life.

Looks pretty sweet.
What is your setup for lighting?
Off?
Parking lamps?
All on, or headlights?

I'd like mine to have the setup of Halos on parking lamps
and for the rest I guess I would have to have the headlight, would that be easy to do?

I disabled the auto on/daytime lights on the car and I also modified the 213 fog light jumper.

I connected the halos, the "city light" in the high beam reflector, and the LED are all wired to the lead for the parking lights. It's pretty straight forward. I know some people use the wire taps, I used weather proof but connectors that have shrink tubing on them and like I said I only modified the harness on the headlight assembly, not the car harness. There will be two connections, one for the turn signals/parking lights and the other for the high and low beams.

Alright, Thanks.
I was hoping there would be a way I could get
Just halos
Then the rest as normal lights, If re-routed the Rear fogs, to also do the halo lights, would that work? or would it draw too much power off the Fog lamp relay?

Oh, sorry I was unclear. Out of the box my set did not have the wires for the halos or the LED's between the hi/lows hooked up - I decided to hook them up the way I did, but you could easily wire them up however you wanted. I cannot imagine that running the halos off the rear fogs would be a too much of a draw, the wiring was like 18 gauge. IPD's directions discussion hooking them up. http://www.ipdusa.com/products/7072/113 ... dlamps-850
