I should probably call them and ask for commission...lol. Seriously though I am in no way affiliated with this company.

I have a '96 Volvo 850. I bought this car used from someone who probably got it at an auction. It started well but then needed a lot of work. There's no way I could have afforded to fix this car through a shop. They charge way too much for parts. I went to www.rockauto.com and found my parts for 1/4 of what the shop wanted to charge me. Then I found a good local retired mechanic who does side work at his house.

Here's what I've had fixed (all parts bought from Rockauto.com):

left front wheel hub assembly
new rotors and pads (all 4 wheels)
both front struts
both rear shocks
distributor cap
rotor
wires
plugs
locking gas cap

I bought a quick fill gas cap first but it didn't operate properly. I called Rockauto and got a friendly rep. When I told her the problem she asked if I wanted a different part or a refund. I asked for the refund. She said ok. I asked if I should return the part. She said no need. My bank account was credited the refund within 30 min.

Check their prices. If you find them cheaper please let me know.

Shipping has generally been VERY high with them. They have since developed a method to help you save on shipping by using as few warehouses as possible during the order process. They do have surprisingly good deals on discontinued parts. Wheel bearing for my mazda is about 75.00, got them for 17 at RA.

I'm not a fan of their shipping setup either. If you're getting a few things at one time that are shipping from different places you'll see your savings vanish pretty quick. You have to work it for sure.

BUT...I always used them for hard parts for my older Jeep, they were almost cheaper than anybody else.
