Auto-dimming mirror cross-compatability

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Auto-dimming mirror cross-compatability

Post by Dirtbag454 »

I've searched this forum for a posting that might list which mirrors can be cannibalized to repair the lava-lamped mirror in my 2000 S80. No joy in Mudville. I'm about to purchase a used mirror, so I'm curious which models and model years will have the appropriate donor glass. Volvo is clever at making it impossible to simply plug in a salvage part, but at the same time, I'd guess that they did not design a different mirror for each model, each year. The glass must be a common shape and size used in a variety of Volvo models over a multi-year span. Anybody have any input?

And then there's the '70 240Z and the '58 Chevy Apache, not to mention the motorcycles...

Well, this question is moot, because I just bought a mirror on EBay for $39.00 It's out of an '01 S80, so there should be no compatibility issues. I'll review the mirror swap post. Meanwhile, I'll go warm up my soldering iron...
