I am familiar with this code related to the SAS system. I may or may not try the SAS delete thing, but I'm more inclined to want to stay stock.
Today is the first time I got this CEL. Actually it didn't trigger the CEL, a P0455 triggered the CEL and had 2 pendings, a P0171 and the P0410.
I am wondering though if it is the SAS system or just the relay? Last weekend I had to drive in some really bad conditions, heavy rain, deeeeeeep puddles. The battery charge light went on for a short time a few times. I attribute that to the serp belt getting very wet and causing a slip condition at the alternator. That light hasn't come on since then and my charging system is fine. I think I read someplace that there is a relay associated with the SAS system and that the relay is located near the pump and I am thinking I might have water damaged this thing or its wiring. Does this make any sense?
Also, when should I hear the air pump run? After turning the key OR do I need to start the engine too? Will I hear the pump while sitting in the driveway or must the car be moving? I'm thinking to take the pump out and just put 12V to is to see if it runs.
Thanks

I'm not much help, but I've never heard my air pump, no noise at all. But I did just do the SAS delete and removed all that stuff.

I removed the yellow relay and jumpered the connections for the pump. It certainly pulls some hefty amps and spins good and hard. Not as quiet as I'd like for an electrical motor but it did spin down and not freeze down when removing the jumper. It's OK. The purple hard vacuum line to the sas valve has a nasty rubber connector that is just about to disintegrate. That and other connectors like in the engine compartment need to be renewed. No P0410 this morning and no pendings yet.

I repaired my SAS system twice befoe doing the delete, and I've kicked myself for not doing it sooner. It's cheaper and faster than repairs and you never EVER have to worry about it again. I cracked open the ECU instead of the in-line method. As Nike says; Just Do It - you'll never regret it.
