Measuring Positive Pressure

I am wondering if there is a simple way to measure positive pressure from the crankcase? I have a tiny bit of smoke from the dipstick, and am wondering how long I can let the PCV go before replacing. I currently have 160k on a 2001 xc70 LPT.

Put a balloon over the top of the dipstick tube. Start, run, idle, watch to see if it inflates.

I just take the oil fill cap off after cranking the car and in idle...and put my palm over the opening- there should be a slight sucking feeling...if it's pushing against my hand at all there is to much pressure.
