Early 90s volvo wheel to 99V70XC compatibility?

I'm working on a snowtire/wheel setup and in the process got a really cheap set of early 90s 940 wheels. with some old rubber on them. I'm trying to determine if they actually work as my car has lug bolts and these seem set up for lug nuts with studs. I can get the lug bolts through the wheel and they bolt on with no clearance issues, but the center caps won't go on as the nut protrudes too far. I can post pictures of the wheels if that would help.

I did search quite a bit and couldn't find a similar thread. The most I found was a possible explanation of how to read some of the numbers on the wheel 8Jx15x25 and that leads me to believe these wheels have a 25mm offset which seems like I might need to use a spacer for the 35-38mm offset that I've found listed as appropriate for 98-00 V/C/S 70s.
