I would appreciate some expert help on my problem...
I have already taken the MAF out and cleaned with MAF spray cleaner. No stored codes. Car just won't accelerate under full throttle. Light throttle and car accelerates briskly up to about to 3,500RPM...but then starts to buck resisting going to red line. Any suggestions on what to check or replace?
Replace MAF?
Is there a recall on the ETM for 2001 models?
Are you supposed to hear the turbo spool up on these cars?
Automatic with about 115k on the odometer.
2001 2.4 LPT won't rev smoothly to redline...

I check these first.
Check turbo for a rubbing noise or excessive play. (common for these turbo's to need a rebuild at this mileage if non synth oil used)
Check intake vacuum for signs of clogged cat.
Check compression for lower than spec.
Check cam timing on any non CVVT cam gear

I have the same vehicle. I rarely hear the turbo. You can hear a T5 turbo, but ours is pretty quiet in stock form.
You could also unplug the MAF, and drive the car and see what happens. You will get a CEL with the MAF being unplugged, but the car may run better, and then you will know the MAF is pooched, and it wasnt just dirty.

Replaced the hose...but it still resists to rev to red line smoothly.
Replacing the hose improved off idle performance and better mid range acceleration due to higher boost in that range, but it still stumbles in the higher RPM area at wide open throttle.
How would I go about checking the following?
Check turbo for a rubbing noise or excessive play. (common for these turbo's to need a rebuild at this mileage if non synth oil used)
Check intake vacuum for signs of clogged cat.
Check compression for lower than spec.
Check cam timing on any non CVVT cam gear
