XC90 headlight upgrade
I have sourced a pair of bi-xeon headlights for my 05 XC90 to upgrade from the standard ones. After fitting them, they come on for about 1-2 seconds and then go off, I took the car to the dealer and they re-set the headlight module for the new units, but no change, they say there is a short circuit in the system but the old units still work fine. They have checked the wiring diagram for any differences in modules etc but cannot find any problem. Can anyone help?? This must be a simple upgrade and I must be missing something obvious.

I also bought some Bi-xenon headlights for my xc90 and they flick on for just two seconds and go out. The dealer said that volvo will not let them work on changing them over even tho they are the factory headlight. I also get a message on my dash that a bulb is out.
From my research so far I think the problem has to do with the daytime running light. Somebody please help with info. I'm going to find a proformance shop and see if they know anything. Will post any solution if I find one and please to the same.

Do you have the install instructions that can be posted online? It might help find the source of the problem
If you have problems with your headlights such as being always or sometimes unable to switch from low-beam to high-beam or vice-versa, or the headlights switching themselves from one to the other, then a prime suspect is the beam control relay, which suffers a lot from dry joints. and yes have your installation instruction as your guide whenever you install or upgrade headlights and other Volvo xc90 parts.
