2000 Volvo V40 816 FM/AM CD power issue

Post by VauxhallDan »

Best Buy's Geek Squat just replaced the factory installed 816 radio on my wife's 2000 V40 because the CD player didn't work anymore. My wife now complains the FM radio doesn't receive as many stations as before in our rural area.

The original Volvo unit is 25Wx4, I believe. I replaced it with Sony CDX-GT565UP with 52Wx4. Is this the power is sends out to the speakers? If so, how do these radios compare with respect to their ability to receive FM radio signals. I'm assuming that the new unit was hooked up to the old antenae, of course, so that was not changed. As you can tell, I don't know diddly about these things.
