90 Volvo 240 MAF sensor brand?

Post by binglax09 »

I have a friend that has a bad MAF sensor and I just wanted to know if the 240s were as finicky as the 850/X70 with their MAF sensors? As in can I get the cheaper reman ones or do they freak out over the aftermarket units?

I have not heard any bad reports about after-market MAFs for the 240.

Just had this come up as I cleaned the original MAF which subsequently killed it (rich fuel trim). I even used the right stuff-air mass sensor cleaner. Bought a ProgRama remanufactured unit. It stopped the rich trim problem but had surging, misfires, hiccups. I'm returning it now. Put in a used junk yard MAF and car runs perfectly. I plan to purchase another working used one for backup rather than a remanufactured one.
