Belt Tensioner/Belt Replacement @ The Stealer,lol

Post by zangado »

So this morning went to the dealer for an oil change because i had a Castrol mail in rebate coupon for $10 off of the $59.00 price and you know how they like to come into the waiting room like your at the hospital and smoothly tell you that they found other issues about your car so they can try to make some more money from you, well this morning was no different. The Service guy tells me that i need a serpentine belt tensioner and "while were there we should just change the belt too" lol,all for $345.000....Yea Right dude!!!

Sounds like around 20 minutes and $90 worth of parts to me.

Isn't it great to be well informed and clued up?

Exactly, while i was in the waiting room watching tv with other customers and hearing the service reps coming to them and telling them all of the outrageous estimates and supposide work they needed done made me think to myself how thankful i am that i know cars like most of us on here do. Your correct on the price too $50.00 for a tensioner and $40.00 for a belt and worst case Scenario an hour of my time vs. $345.00 "It's a no brainer" lol.....
