Resurrecting an old post due to a question I haven't been able to resolve in my own auto-to-manual swap:
Does anyone know if I can mix a 1998-2000 M56 manual transmission with an older 850 flywheel? The issue is the clutch and throw-out bearing. The 850-style used a bell housing with external slave cylinder, release fork, and matching throw-out bearing. The later version had an internal slave and presumably a throw-out bearing to match the pressure plate designed for the later model dual-mass flywheel. Would it also match the single-mass 850 flywheel and pressure plate? Thank you for any help!

Have you scooped out some of the M56 swaps in the P80 forum? Fair amount of activity there

Thank you for the info... Not to sound ungrateful, but tons of info missing: we know the V50 uses the same M66 trans that European XC90s utilize. Are the CV shafts comparable? Is the bellhousing for the V50 comparable for an xc90? How about the driveshaft? Is it ok to use an angle drive (Volvo speak for transfer case) for a V50 for an XC90? Will the XC90 driveshaft fit in to an angle drive for a V50?
