Polestar tune (repost in proper forum)

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

Polestar tune (repost in proper forum)

Post by JRL »

I had it installed a couple of months ago (1500 or so miles)
It's now had a chance to incorporate nicely into the (07) XC
I like it.
Not a tremendous amount of power but a very significant difference from 15 to 60 MPH
What I like about it more than the actual boost is what they did to the transmission.
While my tranny was/is fine, the tune incorporated smoother, tighter shifts. It shifts with less lag, less slop while not being any harsher.
Upshifts are about at 2-300 RPM higher, crisper with better downshifts.
It seems to react a hair faster in manual mode too.

It always had one minor glitch
In 3rd gear in manual mode only, it would jerk at light throttle when you let of the gas, that too is now GONE!

A month later:
Just received my (sort of lame) POLESTAR trunk badge
What is sort of neat, the box all the paperwork comes in is very nice, (Polestar Blue, of course), with a certificate stating this car (VIN) has the PS tune.
Interesting note is while the Volvo statement says 237 hp, the Polestar booklet says 240, a nice round number.

Glad to hear Your happy with your cars new brain! Not overly familiar with the 07's specs, what was the stock hp?
Also, what type of price range is a person looking at to get such a tune?

Thanks

Same as all 05 and 06s or any 2.5T... 207 hp. (now 240)
Price, that's the kicker...
Retail it costs WAY too much, ($1200 ish + labor to install it)
I paid dealer cost +10% with essentially no labor (a $20 bill to a tech next door at Volvo)) to install it
I'm in it for under $700

Cool, ya thats a hefty price. But would be a nice improvement to have the extra power and better shifting points!

Did you keep close track of your mileage pre-tune? and after? Very curious any significant changes? Thinking of installing polestar on my 07 xc? Can't believe it doesn't affect mileage?? Any other observations appreciated!

Thanks!
