99 S80 T6. Replacing the shaft as the inner CV is beyond toasted.
Typical! I thought I would have a pain getting the shaft out of the viscous but that was actually smooth, the problem is that I can't get it to release from the hub! From what I can tell, with the center nut out it simply sits in its splines. Only thing I can think of is that it might have had loctite or similar put on the splines. Tried heating it, but no joy.
Anything else I am missing here? I may just have to heat it more but im not fond to heating the bearing/hub that much.

Oh "I been there", as have a few others here. It's just friction holding it in. I got mine out with a sledge on the axle itself, but damaged the threads at the end. It was going in as a core swap anyway, but still...
I'd borrow or buy a hub puller next time. That thread pretty accurately sums up my encounter.

I've been beating on it with a lump hammer, guess I have to up the ante a little and go BFH. I don't like putting a load across the ball joint like that but this stubborn little beast needs to move. The S80 shaft settup is a little different to th 850/V70. It recessed in the hub so I have to put a socket or other drift in there to hammer the shaft out.

Thanks matt, im afraid the news is not good.
Arghh! This is a farce. It's practically welded on..
Bought 12lb sledge, heated hub, beat the bejeepers out of driveshaft: nothing, nada zilch.
Tried to pry/wedge from rear with a pickle fork, nothing.
Penetrating oil, tried that too.
Bought a gear pullers, tightend living daylights out of it with a cheater bar, nothing.
As above but hitting tightening nut on gear puller, nothing.
So, I slapped some grease in the inner CV and will have to stick on city streets for a while. Im fuming because I have a transmission waiting to go in the V70 and in retrospect the time would have been better spent on that.
Only thing I can think of is heating it with naptha and trying again, but at this point I think its time to pull the spindle off and swap the whole lot. What a mess!

Or bite the bullet and take it somewhere. Pros know how to tackle this. Have them put it back together and you're on your way home to continue where you left off.
I'd call them on the phone and explain things. Ask how much they'd charge.
