Just want to mention how IMPORTANT it is to disconnect the battery before removing the two electrical connections to this unit!

Failure to do this will result in an SRS fault being logged which can only be reset by a Volvo dealer running the VADIS software.

The piece on how to remove the CCM is -WRONG-. Don't angle it upwards. Pull out the bottom just enough to get a finger or two in, then slide your fingers up, and pull the CCM straight out.

Somewhat related.

I unclipped the the shift console.

What time of screws are used in the S80? To remove the climate cluster.

for newer cars, I believe '04 and newer, the CCM and radio are 1 unit. So when you pull at the bottom the whole CCM/radio cluster comes out.

Archiman to install the in-dash cup holder in the '05 S60, remove the whole unit and remove the screws behind the empty holder to remove it and install the cup holder. By the way, afterwards if you don't need the plastic empty holder, I need one and can take it off your hands.

Gavin, or anyone that's done this before, what does the SRS fault actually do? Are you unable to start the vehicle if you dont do this? And does unplugging the battery first 100% guarantee that this can be avoided?

I'm considering installing a USA spec ipod adapter but worried as this is the first vehicle I've owned with this kind of potential issue if you dont disconnect the battery. Appreciate any additional advice you folks can offer with regard to important thing to watch out for before I take apart the climate control/radio. Thanks!

SRS fault means the SRS light will come on and you'll need the dealer to turn it off. The car will run fine otherwise.

That's why you need to disconnect the battery, before unplugging the radio/CCM unit.

When the SRS light is on, it also means the airbags are disabled!
