Volvo 850 owner demographic

So my wife made a quip about the "type" of people who drive our 850's...thought it wasn't true but then I started realizing yeah I think it is.

As with other cars, I feel that this demographic changes as the cars age.

Is there an option for all of the above?

My wife and I fall into the "over 30" camp yet both of my kids drive 850s / 70 series cars as well and they fall into the under 30 category.

The real interesting study would be to compare the typical 850 owner with the typical new (newer) Volvo owner. I suspect there would be some quite glaring differences.

I still have my 855R so don't count me out, yet. Of course what i have is pieces and bits. But NEWS! I discovered that I prefer the 855R to the V70R! As soon as I can get all my title work and plates in hand I'm gonna put it on the market. So I guess I'm still in the 850 category. My wife is in the S60R category. Wait til she hears my news!!.

My first guess is older married males tend to drive the older Volvos. At least that is who I always see. Rarely you see a woman, or a younger person.

Ever notice how the wife drives the new car while the husband drives the practical, old, "beater"?!?

Every man knows that's the way it's supposed to be. The wife ALWAYS gets the nicer car. We get the older one to tinker with as a "toy".

I believe the older, more inexpensive Volvos will begin going to younger and younger drivers. That's what happened with mine. Bought it from a lady with 2 kids in her mid-30's when I was 19; passed it down to my younger brother (17) at 24.

Yeah my parents deeded me theirs 8 years ago when I was 23. I hope to one day pass it on to my kid...would be pretty neat.

I'm NOW in "over 30" category,but when i bought it,back in 2000, i was 20 years old.

I am over 60 and have five Volvos at present got my first one when I was 60. Two volvo 850s and one volvo s70.

For me and my fiance..the 850 IS the new car, while my 240 is the "practical, old, "beater"" (which I drive) haha.
