Where is every one getting new axles

So, I have a torn boot- driver's side on my '98 S70 T5...it hasted 6 1/2 years and the last drive shaft (axle) I got was from Raxles. I called Marty there and he said the turbo axles were very hard to find now and he had none in stock. I know the Chinese knock offs are no good- tried them before and had vibrations. Anyway, he send me a boot and I was going to replace the boot on it...it's not clicking yet, but when I took the axle out of my car, there was way more play in the outer joint than I wanted so went to get a drive shaft locally (had it all apart). Long story short, the one I picked up wouldn't fit in the hub spines. So, I had to but the "bad" axle back in for the time being. Can someone direct me to where I can get a good axle- for a turbo....the non-turbo axles are not as beefy and are not suppose to be used in a turbo car. Any help would be appreciated!!

I never knew there was any difference, the aftermarket guys all show the same part number be it turbo or non turbo. The manual transmission and auto transmission axles are different but they are interchangeable from a fitment standpoint.

I have had nothing but trouble with any axle that wasn't from Marty. The auto parts store re-builts are pretty much all junk but my son actually got one that has worked fine. I went from a set of re-builts to a set of EMPI axles on the platinum but they still have a nasty vibration.

I have been told that the Cardone Select line is OK but I have never tried them.

If I were you I would limp along with what you have until Marty gets another rebuilt for your car.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing- he offered me a grand for my bad one! I'm sure he was half way joking but he said they were that much in demand and not avAilable. EMPI is crap- even the customer comments over at IPD who sells them tells this story.

The last time I looked into this issue, I contacted "GSF Autoparts" from the UK.
Apparently they use very good supplier.
I guess you can contact them and ask them which supplier they use.
They seem to have very good feedback from customers.

Another option is to ask Marty to sell you ONLY the OUTER CV Joint.
Marty probably buys the Outer CV Joint from somewhere in Europe, replaced it and send it back to customer.
However, he probably won't want you to know where he got it from lol.

Get one from a junkyard. Send either the bad one from your car, or the junkyard axle, to Marty to be rebuilt. And/or just wait for the junkyard axle to go bad.

I am pretty sure the turbo and auto axles are the same. Or did you ask Marty about that?.

EDIT just to be clear: I meant the turbo and NA axles. And based on the word from Marty, sounds like I was wrong

Marty said they were different. Also the axle we tried yesterday did not fit. It seems the Turbo hub has one less spline than the axle??

Interesting PDF- still need an axle! Apparently Volvo changed hubs out to be universal for turbo/ non- turbo but original turbo hubs at least for my car has one less spline! Can anyone confirm this?

Not sure about that...I replaced a hub and both axles on my 98 with no fitment problems.

I used an OEM Volvo rebuilt (junk...failed again soon after) and then R-axles, though.
