Can this work?
I've studied this spring seat issue with Volvo and come to the realization that if somehow the entire spring seat could be dipped or heated coated in Polyurethane to make it last longer. the idea is that the rubber sleeve will never catch element damage or flex out of porportion causing failure.
Am I dreaming too hard or could this work?
Here's an idea: Polyurethane dipped Spring Seats?

I'd love to see a design improvement, but I think the real issue is the adhesion of the metal collar to the rubber around it? It is possible elements contribute to the failure of the bond.

ANY car that has this design is prone to spring seat failure
I had a 2004 GTO (Holden) bought with 14K miles, they were shot.
Fortunately the Aussies have a ton of better aftermarket parts than Volvo does so I bought a pair of seriously upgraded Spring Seats and they were fine afterwards

I think so. they are not encased, so water, heat and cold flex that sleeve over time and it fails in my opinon. but if coated polyurethane it will keep all elements out, thus lasting longer. maybe forever.
