Hi,
Could really do with some help.
A few weeks ago my car (volvo s60 2.4t 2001) went into limp mode. It threw up codes P0121 and P1609. I'm living in Sweden but am English and didn't find any repair service in Sweden but I removed the ETM which had the original white sticker on it and sent it to a repair specialist in the UK for cleaning and renovation.
The unit was returned and I fitted it along with a new gasket expecting the car to run better than ever but the same problems come up.
The car starts OK and revs OK but any time between a minute and 10 minutes of sitting on idle it enters limp mode and throws codes P0121 and P1609 again. Sometimes switching off and on again clears the limp mode and sometimes not. I have left the battery disconnected over night and re-connected with the ignition in pos II. I have waited a few minutes with the ignition in pos II to allow the ECU to remap the throttle position before starting the car. Still the same problems and codes.
I have tried disconnecting the the MAF after the codes are cleared and the battery has been disconnected over night and starting the car with the MAF disconnected but again Limp mode and codes come back along with a code showing the MAF is disconnected. P0102 I think it was.
I have checked and rechecked the inlet fitment and tested for leaks with brake cleaner on all hoses, injectors etc with no noticeable leaks.
Please does anybody have any idea what other possible cause there could be for the codes?
Does the P0121 code relate to the throttle body or to the throttle (gas) pedal?
Can the sensors in the gas pedal cause the car to go into limp mode and run poorly at idle?
Repaired ETM still throws P0121, P1609 codes?
