Okay, so I'm doing the mp3 input mod to my tape deck (model no. HU-605) and I've soldered the wires to the points on the board where the trim pots are. The sound comes through the system but it is very poor quality - about as good as a badly recorded tape from the 80's! Also the vocals are very low through the music.
I'm using a Belkin tape adapter rather than a modified cassette to 'fool' the system but the sound is really bad. If I use the Belkin cable that's attached it sounds good but not with the modded cable and jack plug.
If I adjust the trim pots will this clear up the sound?
I've not seen anyone do this mod to a 605 unit so I'm wondering if there's something vastly different about the setup.
I'll post a couple of pics of the board later.
Any help greatly appreciated guys

I did a write up on my HU-615 and the sound is excellet quality with no adjustments needed, so perhaps your connections are weak?
