Post by edortiz »

i have a 2000 volvo s70 2.4. i took the cover off where the wires that are going to the fuel injectors. when i replaced the cover, i pinched a wire and blew a fuse. i replaced the fuse and taped the wires. now the car cranks, but won't start. will idle for about ten seconds.

It wont start at all, or it will start but only run for 10 seconds?
I am not an expert mechanic, but I will attempt any repair. Worst case scenario is I screw it up worse than it was.

you are not getting enough fuel pressure because of the wire you pinched l guess. did the wire come off all the way? check the fuel injector with the pinched wire and make sure the injector is a clicking sound with the car running.

You pinched one of the fuel injector wires? Those wires run to the ECU. If it's one of those, I'm thinking you need to 'reboot' the car, AKA 'resetting the adpatives'. Remove the leads off the battery and cross them for 10 seconds (I think some may say it needs to be longer - I don't recall the exact amount of time but I think it should be long enough). This will drain any power in the system. Reconnect and start it up. Let us know what happens.

Do you remember which fuse you blew? On this arrangement, all injectors get constant +12 volts from a fuse, and each injector gets its own switched (pulsed) negative ground from the Comp.

It looks like you may have disconnected or pinched something more than that obvious wire.
Do you have pressure at the shrader valve ?
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
Disclaimer: We (very) seldom do that
